Win 1 of 2 double tickets to the #5GumExperience ft The Kooks

Poster_2-750px-2

Forget Bieber, Bon Jovi, Metallica and Rihanna folks because The Kooks are heading into town this weekend. The Brits are rolling in to be apart of the 5 Gum Experience. Tickets to this gig have got to be some of the most requested and yet rare things out there. The demand has been outstanding. A lot of you will know if you’ll be going through to the gig at a secret venue in Jozi and in Cape Town, but some of you might not have been successful in your attempts to win tickets. Cue the *sad faces* for many.

Well I’m here to help… I wish I could make all of your Mondays, but as I said these tickets are hard to come by. What I can do is give you the opportunity to win tickets to the gig in Jozi. Sounds easy enough right? Not so much… If you want to win you have to you have to:

- Be a fan of the band

- Someone who is desperate to see them.

- Someone who logged on to get your tickets to the gig as soon as the news was announced.

- Someone who really wants to be at the 5GumExperience.

I’m looking for creative ways to prove that you are one of two people deserving of a double ticket. You can:

- Sing one of their songs

- Record a message, (a video, voice note) and post it here or on YouTube and send me the link.

- Take a photo with your favourite 5 Gum flavours

- Post a FANtastic question to the band using the hashtag #5GumExperience

- THINK OUT OF THE BOX

If you’re up for the challenge drop me a comment in the section below or use the hashtag #5GumExperience in your tweets/ responses to me. I’d love to give you one of two double tickets to the gig and it would be rad to party with you. Continue reading

[Video] Here’s Why Retroviral does Digital

We find ourselves in an age where we’ve become reliant on the Internet. We’re in this digital world, updating statuses, tweeting and following, uploading and blogging. This space has become my world. While it’s fine, exciting and ever changing, we often ask ourselves the question, why do we do digital? What thrill do we get out of being in this ‘world’? What opportunities have come out of being in the space? How can we pioneer, be leaders and have fun while doing it? Those are just some of the many questions out there . Here’s a video clip I got from a friend of mine, Mike Sharman of Retroviral.

Here’s the reason they do digital… and judging by the clip and their very successful 2012, they can and will continue to do digital this year and beyond. #Winning.

Listen to Adele: Skyfall

The countdown to the new James Bond film is on… and one way to get us excited for the film’s release is by listening to Skyfall’s official theme song. It’s by the lovely Adele. Listen to it above. On being enlisted to do the song, Adele says,  “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.  But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done, which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I’m sure!”

I love it, love it, love it. She has the perfect voice for this. Oozes class, power and elegance. Dig it. What do you think?

Listen to Pink’s new single, ‘Try’

P!nk‘s new single, Try is so much of awesome. Loving it. It’s the follow up to the top 10, smash hit Blow Me (One Last Kiss) and is taken off her forthcoming album, The Truth About Love, which drops on the 18th. I’m missing the listening session on Thursday because I’ll be traveling abroad, but hoping to get a copy once I’m back in the country.

Alicia Keys… a “Girl On Fire”!

How good is Alicia Keys looking in the cover for her new album, Girl On Fire? The star is set to release her fifth studio album at the end of November. Her first single off that album, the same title as the album, will be revealed on the 6th of September at this year’s MTV VMA‘s. It hits radio playlists and iTunes on the 4th though. Cue the countdown.

So what’s the album about? “’Girl On Fire’ is about finding your voice, about being unleashed and about trusting your instincts and trusting yourself. I can’t wait to share it with the world,” says Ms. Keys. On this one she has once again worked with longtime song writing partner, Krucial. She has also worked with Babyface, Emili Sandé, Jamie XX and Gary Clarke Jr. Her trademark piano will no doubt be there, but this time she’s expanding her repertoire by exploring heavy drums, some electric and reggae influences. This she attributes to spending time in places like London and Jamaica.

I’ll bring you more on this release when I have the necessary details but you can also check out her online properties:

Here’s my jam at the moment, it’s Alicia, 50 and Dre… New Day. Love it!

If you’re not a fan of 50 and Dre, here’s Alicia’s version accompanied by a rad lyric video.

Watch Pound The Alarm by Nicki Minaj

Whoop. Nicki Minaj has just released her video for the absolutely awesome track Pound The Alarm… This track is one of the better, if not the best track off the album. Love it! Nothing wrong with a little bit of daytime, carnival fun in Trinidad huh? Share your thoughts.
