Nelly Furtado releases Waiting For The Night

If you know me, you’ll know I love me some Nelly Furtado. Always have been a fan and always will be. Her new album didn’t do as well as I’m sure she and the label had hoped. At first I wasn’t sold on the new material, but I’ve grown to love the Spirit Indestructible. There are some great tracks on the album. The only one I don’t like is Parking Lot. It annoys me, but the rest I dig and I can tell that this is an album that she is really passionate about. So if you’re on the fence, grab a copy or a least a few of the singles…

The latest one she’s put out there is the one above. It’s called Waiting For The Night. Love the latin influence and black and white is always so effective. I like!

Jesse Clegg talks Life On Mars

South African singer/songwriter Jesse Clegg has just released his brand new album. It’s called Life On Mars and is the follow up to his hugely successful album, When I Wake Up in 2009. The album went platinum, scored him two South African Music Award nominations and it also saw him traveling to New York City, where he performed on the 46664 Mandela Day concert. Check out my video interview with him above.

While that album was very popular in terms of its radio singles, Jesse says on this album he’s taken a more alternative approach on this one. He traveled to Canada, where he worked with Grammy winning producer Dave Bottrill in his Toronto studios. Jesse told me that Dave was super impressed with how “complete” the project was and that’s because Jesse had been working on the new material for over three years. The two sat and debated the songs for hours on end too because Dave wanted to make sure that Jesse understood his music and could intelligently answer any questions regarding the material. It also helped in the recording process in that Jesse could “feel” the song and really get to grips with the various emotions attached to their meanings.

Tracklisting:

1. Clarity

2. Life On Mars

3. In Black And White

4. Slow Burn

5. The Great Escape

6. Disappearing Act

7. Winston (Another Time)

8. Trouble In Paradise

9. Head Versus Heart

10. Hey

You can download his album at the Omusic Store now, but you must know that you’re missing out on the album packaging. Each of the ten tracks have an accompanying postcard in the album sleeve. That gives you the option of changing the album cover to suit your needs. It’s really great and i’m certain the star will get a lot of praise for not only his music but also for the album packaging too. In short, this album is very deep, thought out and it shows a great maturity in not only Jesse but in his music too. It’s a great local album

D9's Sharlto Copley… totally A-Team

 20th Century Fox

20th Century Fox

District 9 is one of the surprise blockbusters of the year…. and it’s a story out of SA. Now the film’s lead actor Sharlto Copley is hitting the big time. Currently he’s on location in Canada filming the remake of the 80s hit, The A-Team. He’ll be playing the role of Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock and he joins stars such Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Jessica Biel on this project. How awesome, straight out of SA and representing in yet another big film. Nice one Sharlto! Looking forward to finding out more on this project!

Top Travel- Dream job

Who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to travel the globe for 26 weeks and of course for work? Well I’d be surprised if people turned that down. I would never. Janez Vermeiren and Jeannie D of Top Billing fame, have just had that very opportunity as part of the second season of travel magazine show, Top Travel. From Canada, to many South American countries, Austrolasia and Europe, they’ve done it all… and they’re not done. More traveling to come. I recently went to the launch to find out more and that was awesome too. Check out the highlights above and if you wanna watch the show, check it out tomorrow night. SABC 3, 8pm!

Perez apologizes to 'those who were hurt'

Will.i.am sings a song called “Heartbreaker“… it goes “I’m sa sa sorry, sa sa sorry, I didn’t mean to break your heart” and the rest you can google. Now it seems as though his rival and the man who fell ‘victim’ to him, celeb blogger Perez Hilton (Boom Boom Pow’d) is heating humble pie and apologizing for anyone who was hurt, offended. Here’s just a snippet off his site:

“People make mistakes. I have made many in my life, but this past week I have made more than I can count on one hand.

I am sorry. And I mean it. No one is forcing me to write this. I am not feeling pressured to say this. I am speaking out because I realize that the last few days have been more hurtful to me – and many others – than the repeated blows I suffered to my head in Toronto this past weekend.

I have been filled with incredible sadness and regret.

I am sorry that any good work I have done for promoting equality may be tainted by me reclaiming a hurtful word – that’s been personally used against me and the gay community – to hurt someone that was verbally attacking me. It was stupid.

Should you wish to read the rest, click here. Now you’ll recall that on Monday the blogger tweeted from his Twitter account, claiming that he was beaten up by Will.i.am. After much bitching to and fro from both camps and their allies, it came out that it was Will’s manager, Polo Molina who had been accused of throwning a punch or three. Why? Well again it’s alleged that Hilton called Hilton a “F-word”. Eish. So Twitter has been interesting, with petitions to stop Hilton in his tracks and reassess everything he stands for. I even had my say, to which he responded. In context, Perez was having a go at Travis McCoy, Katy Perry‘s ex. He basically called McCoy an idiot and said that he warned Perry about him- and this was after the Will.i.am incident. Here’s what went down:

@PerezHilton Do u enjoy provoking celebs? It’s not cool getting hit in the face, but look @ur msgs to @Travismtv and then u have to wonder!

PerezHilton@JasonVonBerg I could tell @TravisMTV to go sit on a stick that would still not excuse or allow him or anyone to physically harm me.

@PerezHilton agreed, but by calling people defamatory names is also a form of abuse…. verbal! I don’t condone violence, in any form!Peace!

So is this the beginning of a new era in the Perez Hilton blogging phenomenon? Or is this the beginning of the end? Your thoughts peops…
