Grey’s Anatomy- the musical… vom!

Can we just talk about Grey’s Anatomy for a second. Last night’s episode was the one I’ve heard many people talking about for a while. I thought to myself, I won’t ruin it. Let me just see what all the fuss is about and wait to see what transpires in this episode. You know there’s always that one episode in a popular season likes Greys where it leaves everyone ooohing and aaahing, questioning as to what happened, when it happened and what will happen in the weeks to come. Well after last week’s car crash involving Arizona and pregnant Callie, I thought here we go. It was epic alright…. ONE BIG EPIC FAIL!!!

Seriously when Callie’s ‘angel’ appeared and started singing I was like okay, this is a bit odd, but maybe it’s just her subconscious playing games with her after the accident. Well needless to say it carried on with Owen, Merdith, Dr Bailey, Mc(not so) Steamy and Arizona all breaking out into songs made famous by the hit show. These included Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and How To Save A Life by The Fray. While I love both of these songs and the soundtrack for the hit show has always been on point and while many may have enjoyed it, for me, I hated it! Callie’s singing was good but as for the rest of the Seattle Greys staff, maybe they should stick to surgeries. Seriously? Seriously! Watch ‘How To Save A Life‘ below:

It was painful, an hour I will never get back and for a show of this nature, why Shonda Rimes decided to break away from the hospital drama in favour of Glee‘s Anatomy, I don’t know.  When the two were flying around what appeared to be Heaven and the subsequent ensemble of the hospital couples hooking up in various places including the kitchen counter, the hospital bed and of course the infamous caravan where many characters have come to fornicate over the years, I was finished:

I thought it was just me, but loads of people seemed to feel my sentiments. Check out the Twitter trend here. I hope next week’s episode isn’t anything like last nights. If so, the cast can sing their Swan Songs and let the hit show flat line on the hospital bed.

In the clip below you’ll see a helpless Callie being confronted to come back to life, be strong by her angel or whatever you want to call it. Grabbing her legs and shaking her into consciousness, to life as Sara Ramirez sings a version of The Story by Brandi Carlile was a #DEATHBY moment for me! Look I really think she has a super voice and I get that they’re trying to keep the interest in the show alive, but one of favourite medical dramas just got cheesy.com. Yes by me writing this post, I am giving the show an indirect plug. But seriously, can we just get back to blood and guts on the hospital bed and the great story lines (sans the singing)? Please.

Who knows, maybe Grey’s Anatomy- The Musical will be on Broadway soon.

Glee star Matthew Morison to release debut album in May

Glee star Matthew Morrison is venturing into a fully fledged musical career, with the release of his debut single Summer Rain. The song, which was released at the end of February, was co-written by Morrison and star producers Espen Lind and Amund Bjørklund aka Espionage.

Morrison, who has been nominated for an Emmy, Tony and a Golden Globe award, will perform the track on the Jay Leno show on the 6th of April and on the Ellen DeGeneres show on the 11th. This will be followed up by an album release of the full album in May. No further details are available at this stage, but stay tuned Gleeks. As soon as more info becomes available, I’ll stick it up here.

For now, have a listen to the track below:

Finally! Music’s biggest night is here. Tonight the 53rd annual Grammy Awards take place at the Staples Centre in Los Angelas. Arcade Fire, Eminem, Cee Lo Green, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Katy Perry, Usher and Justin Bieber are just some of the performers who will be gracing the Grammy stage. Rihanna is also expected to perform, but the “S&M” singer is battling laryngitis and bronchitis, so hopefully she’ll be resting loads and will be strong enough to perform tonight. Another big performance to watch out for is from Christina Aguilera and crew. Fresh off her Super Bowl whoopsie, the star will take to the stage alongside Jennifer Hudson, country cutie Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams and Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine) for a special tribute to Grammy Legend Award recipient Aretha Franklin. They’ll being seeing R-E-S-P-E-C-T and I’m certain Christina wont be messing up those lyrics… we hope that is.

So a few things to watch out for: Continue reading

Anette Benning presents the award to the Best Director David Fincher of The Social Network. “I had no idea when we finished this film five months ago that I’d be standing here today.”

Best TV Series- Comedy or Musical goes to Glee. “Thank to the Hollywood Foreign Press. There are a lot of people to thank. I want to say thank you to public school teachers. You don’t get paid like it, but you’re doing the most important work in America.”

Emmys 2010: Steve Levitan/ Jane Lynch added to Emmys winner’s list

The Writing For A Comedy Series goes to Steven Levitan, the executive producer of Modern Family. “It is absolutely mind blowing when I was thinking two short years ago Modern Family was just an idea.”

Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy goes to Jane Lynch for her role in Glee. This is her first Emmy win, “Outlandish. I want to thank my parents for raising us on musicals. I love being an actress.” See more below:

Let the Emmys 2010 begin

Talk show host Jimmy Fallon opens the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards with a Glee-inspired number- a musical opening? Always gets the crowds excited. After Golden Gal, Betty White and co-presenter Jon Hamm spoke about thier ‘sexual chemistry’ in the opening number and backstage in the changerooms, the two had the honours of presenting the first award of the night. Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy
Eric Stonestreet wins for his role in Modern Family. “All I wanted to be was a clown in the circus growing up. A lot of people say you don’t pursue this as a career because it’s hard, but I’m so grateful for all the people I’ve met.”

Emmys 2010 Redcarpet highlights

The Glee cast know how to rock the red carpet hey, damn. Dianna Agron and co-star Lea Michele of Glee have to be one of the most beautiful new talents in Hollywood. Lea was showing off her Oscar de la Renta number and she looked fantastic on the 62nd Primetime Emmys redcarpet. Jewel, who is performing tonight, looks fantastic too. Kelly Osbourne cleans up so well too.

Everytime I see Ed O’Neill I think of Al Bundey from Married With Children. Yeah yeah, that is a long time ago, but that’s what I think of- and it’s also partly because of the fact that we haven’t seen the sitcom, Modern Family. Jane Kanowski who is nominated in the Oustanding Best Supporting Actress category also gets more beautiful as time goes by. Perhaps it’s the fact that she’s in love… I hear it does that to one!

John Krasinski on Steve Carell leaving The Office, “He’s leaving on such bad terms. He was stealing things… I think it’s going to be a totally different show and we just want to make this a good year for him”. Matthew Fox is excited to finally be nominated for his role as Dr Jack Shephard in the hit series Lost, which wrapped earlier this year. After six seasons I think it’s about time he cracked a nomination. Paula Abdul and Ryan Seacrest had a little reunion on the Emmys red carpet, aaah… American Idol reunion ;) Kim K? Always looks amazing!!

Golden Globe 2010 red carpet

The 67th annual Golden Globe Awards are just under two hours away and all the stars are turning up in the droves to be apart of the action. This despite the rainy and miserable weather. Watching it live on E! Entertainment with Guiliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest and so far I’ve seen Toni Collette, Mickey Rourke, Neil Patrick Harris, Fergie and hubby Josh Duhamel, Sandra Bullock, Emily Blunt, Adrian Grenier and others…. It’s gonna be good. Who else is watching?

Lea Michele from Glee is looking gorgeous! Rancic asked her if she was dating anyone. Her response? “I’m very happy I will say that. I’ll never tell”.

Should Sandra Bullock win tonight, she’ll most certainly be on her way to Oscar glory! Chase Crawford of Gossip Girl is attending his first Golden Globe Awards. Apparently his Dolce and Gabbana suit is one of the most celebrate

George Clooney is up for Best Actor in a Lead Role for his role in “Up In The Air”. Next week Clooney and many of his celeb friends will be raising money for the people of Haiti after last week’s devastating earthquake. He told Seacrest that “this is a difficult time for people to be giving” but that it’s amazing how forthcoming and united people have been. There will be loads of great musicians, Sting is tipped to be one of them and many of the songs performed at the live telethon will be available for download on iTunes! Big up George!!

Someone who looked kinda odd posing on the red carpet was Chloë Sevigny of “Big Love” fame. Wow posing at the best of times looks dumb, but she really looked totally weird. Leona Lewis is looking goooooooood and her posing was just perfect ;) Wow!

Penelope Cruz is up for Best Supporting Actress in the musical “Nine”. Quote of the night so far, “I’m not like Puff Daddy…I hold my own umbrella.” She alsoo said that during breaks on set the ladies would go out for dinners and they even went to check out Madonna in concert! I bet they had the best seats in the house! Artists for Peace and Justice is how Penelope is getting involved and pledging her support to the people of Haiti!

Mariah Carey needs to cover up a bit. Besides that she is being celebrated for her role in the film “Precious”. “I’m here tonight to see the film supported and to have fun” Jennifer Garner looks fantastic in Versace, really does! Her film Valentine’s Day is coming out soon and like I said in another blog post, the whose who of Hollywood star in that film. Garner on Jessica Biel, “I totally have a girl crush on her” Taylor Lautner was asked if he was dating anyone at the moment, “I am not”. No more (Tay)2.

MMM… still looking amazing is “Cougar Town” Courtney Cox!
