Undefeated. “This is ridiculous. We want to thank the Academy. This time a year ago we were in the editing studios saying nobody was going to watch this documentary. A friend of ours said don’t be silly you’ll be at the Oscars next year. So we’d like to thank him.”
Chris Rock is up to present the Best Animated Film Award. The Oscar goes to Gore Verbinski for Rango:
“Thank you so much. This is crazy. Someone asked me if this film is for kids. It was made by a bunch of adults acting like kids. It doesn’t get any better than this. Thank you.”
The 84th Academy Awards are about to get going. The stars have walked the red carpet, most looking the part… some not so much. Some of the stars I caught a glimpse of included Michelle Williams (amazing in her red dress), George Clooney and his beautiful girlfriend Stacey Kiebler, Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie and GwynethPaltrow. People are saying she is a best dressed nominee, in her Tom Ford outfit tonight. She looks great.
Gwyneth Paltrow introduces the performance everyone has been waiting for. That being Adele.
Adele and the voice are back and let’s just say this. Her voice is something else. Rolling in the Deep bellowing out of the Staples Center across the globe with everyone singing along. The video above isn’t the greatest quality, but it will give you an idea of what the performance was like.
Were you lucky enough to be at the FNB stadium last weekend to see and experience Coldplay live? Well if you weren’t you really missed out. Chris Martin and the rest of the guys from Coldplay raised the roof in Jozi when they performed for the first time on African soil. I haven’t really been a huge fan of the group since their Parachutes album, but having seen them live last weekend, I have the utmost respect and a new-found love for them. The musicianship they all have on stage is incredible. The energy they bring to each and every performance is on point. Their show is a well oiled machine, but one that isn’t too rehearsed. One such example is the fact that Chris Martin speaks from the heart and not from a teleprompter. It’s a natural conversation he is having with the audience and I really appreciate that. Some artists I’ve seen in recent times have done the boring rehearsed speech vibe, that if I log onto Youtube and search for them in different cities around the world, I’ll get an almost word for word account. Lame. Coldplay didn’t disappoint in that regard, nor did they with their performance. Awesome, loved it and I can’t wait to see them in concert again.
The group shot the last few clips of their new music video for Paradise at the Jozi leg of the stage. What an awesome experience for some 60 000 revelers and to claim we were featured in one of the world’s most successful and critically-acclaimed acts is awesome. Check out some of the video highlights above.
Coldplay release their new album, Mylo Xyloto on the 24th of this month. Stay tuned for more on this release. I believe this album is going to be a runaway success.
R&B superstar releases her brand new album, “4″ tomorrow and while many believe it might be the biggest flop of 2011, one thing the star can be proud of is of her performance at Glastonbury at the weekend. The “Run The Girls” singer headlined arguably the biggest music festival at the weekend and from the reviews I’ve read, everyone seems to have loved it! Watch an interview with Beyonce above, which was done after her performance. King B calls this one of the biggest highlights of her career and from the videos I’ve seen online, it’s hard not to believe her! Big up to Beyonce.
Were any of you in the crowd at Glastonbury? Share your thoughts with us. I for one would love to know what Beyonce and the other artists were like.
I’ll have more on Beyonce’s album during the course of this week. I’m not quite ready to share my thoughts at this point

First of all I must just say, it’s been very entertaining both watching the show live on Channel O and following all the coverage on Twitter and Facebook. It’s been good seeing what people think of the winners, who they’re liking and who they’re not enjoying as much! After the U2 opening and Best R&B winner JHud; Boyz II Men, Reverend Al Green and Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban all singing the soulful. “Let’s stay together”.
The Mentalist, Ozzie actor Simon Baker was there to introduce multiple winners Coldplay. The band’s vocalist Chris Martin took to the stage with just his piano singing the song ‘Lost,’ love it. Rapper Jay Z took to the stage too, throwing a bit of a rhyme in there before the rest of the band joined Martin. Continue reading →
