Will the real Wolverine please stand up

hughatzoo

It has been a while since we last saw Hugh Jackman in his role as Wolverine. Well in the build up to The Wolverine’s big release in July, the star is gearing up for a busy couple of months promoting the film. Jackman was photographed at a zoo in Detroit where he himself was spotting hanging with real wolverines.

I don’t know about you, but the Marvel one looks a lot more vicious than the ones pictured above ;)

The Wolverine is due for release on the 26th of July. Keep up to date with all things The Wolverine by liking them on Facebook:

X-Men Origins Wolverine Director Gavin Hood profile

AP Photo
Gavin Hood is high on my list of most respected and admired people within the entertainment industry. He is the type of person that when people ask the question, if you could host five people at a dinner party, who would they be? He would be one of them, but this is coming from a very subjective view. Gavin is an Oscar winner. In 2005 his directing skills were recognised by the Oscar Academy for the South African film Tsotsi, which won in the Best Foreign Language Film category. He has since worked with the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal on a film called “Rendition,” among other projects, but the big news is for Gavin’s latest film: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The multi-million dollar film releases across South Africa today and in the USA on Friday. It’s expected to be one of the major money-spinners this Summer/Autumn (depending where you are in the world) despite the problems he and the studio have encountered thus far. The film was leaked online allegedly by someone involved in the production and just this week, it’s Mexico premier was delayed off due to the Swine Flu sweeping the globe!

Here is this week’s episode of The Von Vodcast with Gavin

Be sure to check out the film and share your thoughts with the rest of us… I might not be the biggest fan of the X-Men franchise, but I definitely think it’s worthwhile checking out! So if you’re a fan, you’ll love it and if you’re a fan of Hugh Jackman, Taylor Kitsch, Ryan Reynold, Liev Schreiber and or Will.i.am then you will most certainly love it. enjoy! Here is an interview with Hugh Jackman by E! Entertainment’s Ben Lyons:

X-Men Origins opening tomorrow

X-Men Origins: Wolverine! One of the biggest films of the year will be released worldwide this week. It goes into theatres across South Africa tomorrow, nice. I have seen the movie and it’s brilliant, all $150million of it. The film is directed by South African-born, Oscar-winner Gavid Hood and stars the likes of Liev Schreiber, Hugh Jackman, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am and Ryan Reynolds.

So be sure to check it out, and let me know your thoughts and tune in to this week’s webisode of The Von Vodcast as I chat to Gavin about the film, his huge success and living in LA…What an inspiration. That’s coming soon. For now though, here’s the trailor:

Want the new X-Men movie to premier in your town?

So the new X-Men film will be released soon- and now in addition to seeing the likes of Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) on the big screen, you can also get to see him and other casts members walking the red carpet in your home town. Yes that’s right, according to a news story on Ryan Seacrest’s site the city with the most votes will get to see the stars premiering the movie right in front of you. So here is how it works. You need to visit
http://x-menorigins.com
and mark your home town with an “X.” Then on the 27th of April, Hugh Jackman will announce the winning city.

Now if it was open to all cities across the world I would ask all Jozi people to vote for our city, but I acknowledge the fact that many of you readering this are from the U.S… so may the best city win :) I do however feel that a South African city should get it purely because it’s directed by South African director Gavin Hood and Taylor Kitsch is in our country filming The Bang Bang Club. Lets see who wins!

Musical Movie Tribute

Another musical act with host Hugh Jackman, this time he’s called on Beyonce and others to create a tribute to the best in movie musicals. The number was created by the incredible Baz Luhrmann and the songs included Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musica and Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried from Mamma Mia!. Great production:

I don’t know if it was a dig at Ms Etta James, but Beyonce again sang a little bit of “At last”….

2009 Academy Awards undergo

The 2009 Oscars have just started. Host Hugh Jackman is handling it well. His opening recession number:

Singing on ‘the set’ of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Slumdog Millionaire). Serenaded Kate. Now he’s gone into a choreographed number based on cheap props from Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight and Milk.

Anne Hathaway on stage joining in for the Frost Nixon number. Brilliant, ‘emotive,’ classic!

Another number now. The Reader this time. Mr Jackman can dance hey. Onward to The Wrestler.

He’s just got a standing ovation for his opening recession number.
