The Oscars 2012 – Michel Hazanavicius wins Best Director

Michael Douglas is here to present an award. After his struggle with cancer last year, the star is back, looking and sounding great. He is presenting the award for Best Director. The award goes to Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist.

“I am the happiest director in the world right now. Thank you Academy. I want to thank the cast. I want to thank all the crew. Agi (sp) the dog. Sometimes life is beautiful and today is one of those days”.

The Oscars 2012 – Tina Fey and Bradley Cooper present

Tina Fey and Bradley Cooper are up to present the next award. They’re presenting the Best Film Editing to Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

“We weren’t expecting this. I’d like to thank the Academy. All The cast.” There’s this awkward silence where the two winners aren’t sure what else to say so they just wrap it up

Both Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing awards go to Hugo. Winners for Sound Mixing, Tom Fleischman and John Midgley had this to say:

“Wow this is an incredible honour. Thank you to the Academy. Thank you to my crew and thank you so much to Martin Scorsese“.

The Oscars 2012 – Billy’s opening, Hugo wins

Academy Award winner and legend Morgan Freeman opened the show introducing a montage of this year’s Best Pictures. This is a way to also introduce host Billy Crystal, who places himself in some of the scenes with this year’s nominees. It’s a light way to kick things off.

This is the 9th time Crystal is playing host for the Oscars. He said, “We’re at the beautiful Chapter 11 theatre…” This in the wake of Kodak going under recently. After his song and dance parody, he introduces Tom Hanks. He is presenting the Oscar for Achievement in Cinematography, which goes to Robert Richardson for Hugo:

“I want to thank you. Martin you’re a genius as usual. To all the past, present and future filmmakers this is for you.”

The Oscar for Best Art Direction goes to Dante Ferretti and his wife for their role in Hugo too.

2012 Golden Globes- Martin Scorses wins Best Director

Martin Scorsese wins the award for Best Director for his film, “Hugo”. The award was presented by the elegant and beautiful Angelina Jolie.

Award season rolls on. Last night the 17th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards took place and the silent film The Artist looks as if it might heading for Oscar glory come March. Martin Scorsese scooped yet another lifetime achievement award and George Clooney beat out his buddy Brad to take home the Best Actor trophy. This Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards will start to establish a clear path to Oscar glory, so let’s see who comes out on tops this Sunday.
