Chris Brown releases Fine China

Chris Brown is working on new music and a sample of the new offering has just been released. It’s his new single called Fine China and you can see the video above. Funky track… Hopefully he’ll be making good music like this to heal his ‘broken heart’, in light of his recent split from Rihanna

Watch: Justin Timberlake’s Suit & Tie

It has been a heavy day, an emotionally taxing day for many and so I feel it’s time to lift the mood a bit. What better way than a little bit of Justin Timberlake. The star has finally released the music video for his hit single, Suit & Tie, which is taken off his forthcoming album, The 20/20 Experience.

Watch Ke$ha’s music video, C’Mon

This still amazes me. In just four days, singer Ke$ha’s C’Mon music video has amassed over 9million views already. Incredible. It’s a great video and I’m not sure if I’ve said this before, but her album is really good too. This coming from someone who wasn’t entirely sold by her first offering. I respect what she did, but it wasn’t for me. This album I dig. Check out the video above with the biggest hippy in the game right now ;)

Open letter to Lady Gaga

Dear Lady Gaga,

I am writing to you today for a number of reasons. First off all, this letter is being written because I’m looking forward to seeing you live in concert for the first time. I think your Born This Way Ball at the FNB Stadium aka Soccer City is going to be great, exciting and hopefully one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. As much as the haters will try and burn you at the stake for being a ‘Satanist’, bringing your ‘bad, negative energies’, I’ve advised them to stay at home. Their loss, not yours; or mine or the other 90 000 people expected at the stadium.

The other reason I thought I’d write this open letter to you is because I feel this needs to be said. I know you’re not doing any press worldwide at the moment. For the most part that is fair, but you’ve been to most of those countries before and it therefore makes sense. However, you haven’t been to South Africa – or the continent for that matter, so it doesn’t really sit well with us. You probably don’t give a shit, but if you do read this this just know that in addition to your Little Monsters, there are lots of media and journalists who love and respect what you do. I, for one, have followed your career quite closely since you broke out onto the scene. If I had to put a top 5 list of artists in the world together right now, you would most certainly be on it. This is genuine and I know you know that you believe you should be on it too.

I know there was a lot of controversy around Die Antwoord and them turning you down and then there was (if I’m honest) that really tacky music video, but we don’t care about that. Then there was all that other crap about you putting on weight (snore) and that you’re evil (how laughable). I don’t give a fuck about that, I really don’t and while some might be, they could respect you enough not to ask about that if that was your stipulation. Ban anyone who wants to ask about it or just ignore the question completely, but why not grant us just fifteen minutes of your time? You can carefully select the media you want to invite (with the help of your team and our local publicists) and we could have a really good time. Plus your local fans would absolutely love it.

I’ve covered loads of concerts in the past and created online videos for the organisations I’ve worked for, which have always been warmly received. When I heard I couldn’t cover yours I was bummed. You have your reasons for that and I can understand and respect them. All I’m simply asking for is fifteen minutes of your time. It really would be great to hear your thoughts about being in South Africa, what your Little Monsters can expect and why it took you so long to get out here.

This is a long shot, but you know what, it’s better to try and be unsuccessful rather than to ponder about what could’ve been. You know how that goes, so here’s to hoping.

If you are reading this, I thank you. If not, well then THE END I guess ;)

Enjoy South Africa.

Best,

Jason

[Video] Rihanna – Diamonds

[Video] Watch Die Antwoord’s new video, Fatty Boom Boom”

First Die Antwoord turn down Lady Gaga‘s offer to tour with her and now they’re having a go at her in their new music video. It’s hilarious though. Check out Fatty Boom Boom above, in which ‘Gaga’ has seemingly just arrived in the country. She’s getting a tour of the city by a local but obviously in the view of how so many foreign nationals view the country… you know lions in the streets, elephants in our backyards vibe.Gaga is wearing her meat dress too ;)

So this will of course get people talking and debating. If you look at the top comment on Youtube you will see how a few American nationals are reacting to the video. South Africans might also take offense to the video too. One thing’s for sure though, Die Antwoord once again prove that they go beyond making catchy music!

Watch Veezo’s ‘All I Do’ video

Check out Veezo’s new music video called, All I Do. Luvuyo “Veezo” Lejowa was born in Joziwood, but raised in Gaborone. He has been in the game since he was 18. Veezo is enjoying the success of the first single, having being playlisted to several radio stations across the country. Have a listen to the track above and warning, sensitive viewers might be offended by some of the lyrics… you have been warned ;)

Nelly Furtado releases official Spirit Indestructible video

Nelly Furtado has dropped the second single off her forthcoming album, Spirit Indestructible. The official video hit the web yesterday and according to the star, it’s one of her favourites. “This song means a lot of things to me ’cause it does have a spirituality to it and a positivity. It’s meant to be empowering, it’s mean to be a tribute to all of us. We all have indestructible spirits.” Watch her getting in touch with all the elements; earth, wind, fire and water.
Beautiful video.

Just on a side note, this single and the album’s title are both very interesting and somewhat ironic. I loved the first single, but a lot of people didn’t. Despite this, her spirit is indestructible and she will persists, persevere and I can’t wait for the album to drop this September.

New from No Doubt – Settle Down

It has been almost ten years since their last single and just when fans of No Doubt were starting to lose hope, the band go and drop a new single… Can I get a WHOOP, WHOOP!!! The single, Settle Down, is taken off their forthcoming album “Push and Shove”, due out on the 25th of September. More on this in the months to come but for now, welcome back No Doubt.
