This week has been good. I got to chat to the guys from Mi Casa ahead of their big performance for President Obama on Monday. I also got to chat to Ne-Yo, who happens to one of my favourite artists. He’s super talented and let me tell you, in person, he’s so awesome. Friendly, forthcoming, intelligent and just the sort of dude you’d like to hang out with.
He was here in his capacity as Creative Director for the new range of Malibu called Malibu Red. Last night I hit up the red carpet event at The Venue in Johannesburg. Some of SA’s finest were in attendance walking the carpet as was Ne-Yo. Check out the highlights above – and stay tuned for more on my one-on-one interview coming soon (when I can finally convert the format to something workable).
Today I get to meet and interview one of my favourite artists, Ne-Yo. The star jetted into the country yesterday as part of his ambassador duties for Malibu. He is the creative director behind their new range of Malibu Red and so he’s out here to promote the drink and also to perform tomorrow night. He’ll be joined on stage by AKA and Toya Delazy, so it’s bound to be a good night out. More on that on Friday or keep an eye on my Twitter handle for more details.
If you’ve got any burning questions for Ne-Yo, you’ve got until lunch time (SA time) to let me know, otherwise be sure to check back here soon for the video interview.
Rihanna performed her new single, Stay on SNL recently. It’s taken off her number one album, Unapologetic. The album has really grown on me and I find myself choosing this one over Ne-Yo, Taylor and Alicia if I’m honest. I’m surprised that this was the second single off the album, but it really shows a different side to the star and I’m liking it. Plus, for all the haters who believe she can’t sing, the video above proves otherwise.
Rumours are doing the rounds that Rihanna is the next star who will be gracing South African shores this year. Let’s hope so. It will be her first tour as a headliner, so I look forward to hearing more from the promoters.
R&B star Ne-Yo gets down and dirty for his new music video Lazy Love. It’s actually quite raunchy so sensitive viewers be warned! The track is taken off his forthcoming album R.E.D, which is due for release in September. Check out the video above. The brother has clearly been hitting the gym, looking all toned and buff and shit.. *sucks stomach in* ha.
R&B classic in the making right here… it’s the new track from Ne-Yo and it’s called Lazy Love. It’s taken off the star’s forthcoming album called R.E.D, which is due for release on the 18th of September. I’ve always been a big fan of old Ne-Yo so this will be a great belated birthday present for me… take notes people! Have a listen to the single below:
It has been a rough couple of weeks for Marc Anthony, but if there’s one thing he can be happy about, it’s the fact that his new track with Pitbull is doing extremely well on the charts. It’s called Rain On Me and is the follow up to Pitbull’s smash hit Give Me Everything, which features Ne-Yo, Nayer and Afrojack. What do you think?
Yes please. How’s this for good news and an awesome way to start your Tuesday. Grammy and Academy Award winner, Jennifer Hudson is set to release her sophomore album on the 22nd of March. It’s called I Remember Me. The album title is based on a poem written by Jennifer and composed into a beautiful song co-written by Ryan Tedder of One Republic fame, which will feature on the album. She’s also worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Swizz Beatz and Stargate on this one
“I’m excited about this album because it’s almost like a renewal for me, reflected through the chapters of my life,” says Jennifer. “I’ve called it ‘I Remember Me’ because of the journey I’ve been on. I’ve learned that life constantly surprises you, no matter your plans. My fans have been so loyal, I feel like they have been on this journey with me and I can’t wait for them to hear the new album.”
Have a listen to the first single Where You At below. It was written and produced by R Kelly and it hit the airwaves and Internet yesterday. She can’t do anything wrong and Clive Davis of Sony Music Entertainment agrees, “Jennifer is the voice of the new generation and she literally soars on her second album ‘I Remember Me.’ Jennifer fulfills all of her promise and all of the prophesies that she will be on that short list of great vocalists of our time.” I doubt there will be that notorious sophomore slump for Ms Hudson when she releases this album. Can’t wait to hear it. For more on the album, check out here official website http://www.jenniferhudson.com
Ne-Yo is preparing to launch his new album Libra Scale soon and this is one of the singles you’ll get to hear on the album. I like it, but damn you can hear how the late, great Michael Jackson has played an influential role in Ne-Yo’s music hey. In a good way though!
Rihanna poses in a field for (Only Girl) In The World
Rihanna is churning out hits and albums like McDonalds churns out fries and burgers- the only difference is? I like Rihanna. So I have an update on her new album for you now. The Internet is buzzing with the release of her first single called (Only Girl) In The World and now I’m happy to announce the new album (her fifth) will be called ‘Loud’. It’s due for release in the USA on the 16th of November. It will be available in South Africa shortly after that. I’m thinking we’ll see more up-tempo, dance tracks for Riri on this one, which again shows her versatility as an artist and it’s bound to be ‘Loud’. She says, “Get loud everybody. Get crazy. Get excited. ‘Cause I’m pumped. I’m just gonna be me.” Hip-hop? Tick. R&B? Tick. Pop? Tick. It’s now time to tick off the dance charts too. Can’t wait for more news of the production process, the influence behind the tracks and some of the big names attached to this release. Stay tuned!
