John Legend drops “Who Do We Think We Are”

2013 you special musical beast you. We’ve heard new music from Beyonce, Justin’s just released his new album (review to follow this week) and now the ever cool John Legend has just dropped his new single. It’s called Who Do We Think We are. The single is taken off his forthcoming, fourth studio album “Love in the Future,” which is expected to drop on the 25th of June.

On the album Legend says, “I’m so excited to release this project.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed making this album with a team of incredibly gifted producers and co-writers.” Says Legend “Every day we went to the studio with the goal to create something beautiful, to make the best album of my career. After all the writing and arranging and re-mixing and editing, it’s finally time for the world to hear it.”

 You can hear the single above and it features Rick Ross (my worst but anyway). The video will drop in mid-April. Can’t wait to bring you more on this release too.

Remembering 9/11/01

I can’t believe it has been 11 years since we saw the horrible and tragic events of 9/11. New York City’s iconic skyline became a sight nobody ever imagined they’d get to see or experience. Over 2000 people lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attacks on that fateful day. It left a sour and sad taste in my mouth too because this happens to be my birthday and if you know me, you’ll know my love for New York City and America in general, so I was terribly sad. We will never forget those lost of this day, but I thought why not pay tribute to those lost and to the city I love so much by sharing some of my pictures from there.

Kourtney Kardashian expecting baby number 2

Congratulations to Kourtney Kardashian and her partner Scott Disick on their baby number 2 news. In a statement to E!Online earlier, the star said she was ecstatic. “Scott and I are so excited to announce that we are expecting our second child and are thrilled to be expanding the love in our family.”

The eldest Kardashian is said to be 9 weeks pregnant.  Aaah little Mason is gonna be a big brother and if he’s anything to go by, this little one is bound to be just as cute. Mazeltov to the happy couple.

Gavin DeGraw will be okay

Singer Gavin DeGraw has been released from a New York hospital following a vicious attack at the weekend. The star is said to have a broken nose and a concussion, but he is stable. DeGraw, who was touring with Maroon 5 and Train, was attacked by a group of unidentified males late Sunday. The NYPD are yet to make any arrests but the case is being investigated.

Not to be funny or anything and don’t get me wrong, but DeGraw is set to release his new album, Sweeter in September. With an incident like this happening, DeGraw is bound to sell a few extra records now. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

 

Statement by Wyclef Jean on Haiti earthquake

NEW YORK-The following is a statement by Wyclef Jean on today’s
magnitude 7.0 earthquake outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti:

“Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an
earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced.

The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks -
struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.

I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands
will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in
Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.

President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands ‘ready to assist’
the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and
prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon
as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion
and help the Haitian people in every way possible.”

Lil Wayne- What a champ!

It’s been one helluva year for rapper Lil Wayne. He’s scored several top ten hits, has featured in some of the biggest tracks and he scored himself 4 Grammy Awards this year. Busy year for the rapper, but that’s not the only thing he’s been busy with. The star is apparently expecting his fourth child, with yet another partner (singer Nivea)… This so happens to be his fourth offspring in just over a year. What a classy chap he is! He’s obviously never heard of 1. contraception and 2. HIV/Aids.

So now the father of (almost) four is facing yet another dilemma, in that he probably wont be seeing his Lil ones for at least a year. Rolling Stone Magazine is reporting that he pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in the second degree on Thursday in a New York courtroom. The incident came to light after his tour bus was pulled over by police in July of ’07, after the po-po’s allegedly smelled pot wafting out of the Wayne bus. It’s then alleged that as the police were approaching, Wayne tossed a Louis Vuitton bag out of the bus, which had a gun in it.

As if that wasn’t enough, TMZ is also reporting that the rapper is also facing charges of felony drug possession and weapons charges in yet another state in the US, Arizona. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges though and that trial is set to get going in March of next year. He’ll officially be sentenced in February next year for the New York gun possession charges. Seems like it’s going to be a jolly old Merry Christmas for Lil Wayne this year. Oh and he’s expected to release his new record, “Rebirth” on the 15th of December. Let’s see how that goes.

RIP Natasha Richardson

The award-winning star died after being removed from the life support machine in a New York hospital yesterday. She was 45. Liam Neeson’s rep, Alan Nierob issued a statement on behalf of the family:

“Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

My deepest condolences go out to Richardson’s family.

Natasha Richardson- the latest

Friends and family are gathering at the bedside of actress Natasha Richardson, after her skiing accident in Montreal on Monday. It’s believed she is now in the Lennox Hill Hospital in New York, where her mother Vanessa Redgrave was spotted, presumably going to be by her daughter’s bedside. Several sources are now reporting that the situation is critical, some even saying that the family has gathered together to pay their last respects. It’s believed that she was the star was taking skiing lessons on a beginner’s slope when the accident occurred. Initially the 45-year-old appeared unhurt, but later she was rushed to the Sacre Coeur Hospital hospital, after complaining about severe headaches.
