L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate 2011

Last year I went to my first L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate in Cape Town. Now having been to the J&B Met and the Durban July, I kind of thought this wouldn’t be too different. I was pleasantly surprised though. It was intimate, sophisticated and classy, the people were dressed so well and adhered to the blue and white theme, the weather was fantastic and, well it really was just an awesome event. So I was hoping to head down to the Mother City for this year’s running of the Queen’s Plate, but unfortunately that wasn’t meant to be. Alas, it went ahead and it would appear as if those in attendance enjoyed the 150th running at the Kenilworth racecourse at the weekend. Contrary to popular belief, the big winner wasn’t Pocket Power this year. Instead the new L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate champ is Mother Russia.

This year, some 6000 people attended the event. Below you’ll find a few pictures of the celebs in attendance at LQP, which had the theme of “Timeless Elegance”.

All of them look like A-listers. Their interpretations of the theme was spot on. Beautiful. I’m waiting on responses from Locnville, Louise Carver and Crazy White Boy to hear about their performances and their experience from the event over the weekend. Stay tuned.

Onward to the next big social event. Who is going to this year’s J&B Met?
