The Oscars 2012- the cast of Bridesmaids present three awards

The cast from Bridesmaids are up to present three awards. They’re waffling on about length, sizes and gosh who knows what else ;) Fun times. The first award they’re presenting is the Best Live Action Short Film, which goes to The Shore:

“Thanks this is my daughter the producer. I want to thank the Academy. Our little film was inspired by the people of Northern Ireland, who after thirty years of war sat down and negotiated peace.”

Next: Before presenting the Best Documentary (Short Subject) award, stars Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy called a shotgun down-down. Someone shouted something and the two shouted Scorsese and then down a shot of what looked like a vodka or something. They then presented the award to those involved in Saving Face:

“It’s more important that the Pakistani on this stage speaks and not me.”

“I just want to dedicate this award to all of those who are working on the ground in Pakistan. To all the women working on the ground in Pakistan, don’t give up on your dreams. This is for you.”

And lastly, Best Animated Short Film award goes to The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg. “Look we’re like these two swamp rats from Louisiana. We’re going to keep on trying. Thank you to the Academy, our families, our wives, the Academy and you guys. And THANK YOU”

Osama Bin Laden is dead

Last night in the USA, President Barack Obama addressed his nation and the rest of the world confirming what many have wanted to hear for a long time: One of the world’s most wanted (and hated) terrorists, Osama Bin Laden is dead. An operation by the American Navy was carried out in Pakistan yesterday, which killed the 54-year-old and several other al Qaeda members. Bin Laden was responsible for the 2001 September 11 attacks, in which more than 3000 people were killed in a senseless terrorist attack. Now almost ten years on, the world’s most deadly terrorist is dead. According to CNN, Bin Laden’s body has already been buried at sea in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Americans have been celebrating throughout the night in Times Square and outside the White it is believed, but citizens abroad have been warned to be on high alert in fear of a retaliation by al Qaeda forces. I hope this marks the end of the reign of terror.

Jamali “Incurable” Official video

I was going to describe Jamali as one of the biggest female groups in South Africa, but as far as I can tell and remember the are indeed the biggest. Who else are they contending with? These ladies have enjoyed much success in this industry since since winning the singing contest, Popstars back in 2003-2004. Can you believe it has been that long? They’re continue to create good pop songs for a broad audience and they manage to reinvent themselves without loosing that Jamali touch. Their new album, Toxic Candy is now on sale and the first single off that album is called Incurable. On their official website, they’ve described the album as:

The album is a combination of two sides to Jamali – the seductively sweet love ballads that earned them their fame, and a darker side where they offer up edgy dance and electronic anthems. Toxic Candy is a calumniation of Jamali’s vocal ability, song writing talent and sultry good- looks. Toxic Candy’ serves up a very eclectic mix of sounds that are amplified by an impressive list of collaborations. Heaven features the astounding Soweto Gospel choir who add a warmth and richness to the music. Jamali were also teamed up with two of South Africa’s top rappers- JR and Pro (ProKid) on Jati. Jamali continues to offer up stellar live performances packed with flawless choreography and harmonic vocals that are sure to get every single audience member on their feet. Jamali is an ever-evolving trio that goes from strength to strength with each passing year.

Watch the video above. It is really impressive!! Nice one Jamali.
