Nonhle’s back

Nonhle Thema_resizedVuzu’s V-Entertainment will celebrate its 1000th episode next week and to mark this massive milestone and occasion, the channel is bringing back the original V-Entertainment host, Nonhle Thema. Did you think she’d disappeared? Did you think she was overs? Not a chance… You can #SITDOWN. She will #BuyYou if you disrespect her ;) #BOOM.

Full details on Nonhle’s big return in the press release below:
V Entertainment’s original host Nonhle Thema is returning to the show’s hot seat to celebrate the landmark 1000th episode of Vuzu’s popular live entertainment show.

Thema will be there to guide the gossip, peace-making, revelations and more – including when a host of A-List celebs gathered at a Joburg restaurant to mark the occasion.

The very special episode of V Entertainment – to be broadcast on Wednesday, 24 April at 18:00 – again confirms the live show’s status as providing the freshest local and international celebrity news, views and interviews on air. It’s a combination that has earned the show loyal fans throughout South Africa over the years.

The proof of V Entertainment’s pull is that many of those at the intimate A-List dinner celebration were seeing each other for the first time in ages, having had the kind of beef that’s unlikely to be classified as clean by scientists with their microscopes!

Bonang Matheba I salute you

This lovely young lady never ceases to amaze me. Bonang Matheba is a world class star who has it all.

Not only is she one of the hosts of the hottest music show on TV, she’s also a radio presenter on YFM, a model (newly crowned cover girl for FHM) and a very very in-demand and clever businesswoman. Big up to her! When I watched her on Vuzu’s Top Shayela last week, I thought to myself, damn here’s someone who really has taken every opportunity by the horn and gone with it. We can all learn a lot from someone like Bonang. What she’s achieved at her age is remarkable, admirable.

Check out the first of her monthly web reality shows, where you can get an in depth look into what a month in the life of Bonang is like! I’m bummed I wont be able to make the relaunch of her website and the online reality show tonight. The party goes down at Icon in Sandton and is by invite only. Sadly I won’t be able to make it, but this wont be the last we hear of this lady. Stay tuned, there’s more to come. I look forward to bring you such news and here’s a star I would dig to work with in the future. Setting the intention, putting it out there. One day :)

Me In A Minute with Tatum Keshwar

Being Miss SA was a wonderful experience, definitely life changing, as it brought along so many other opportunities. I grew tremendously within that year. I often reminisce on my experiences but life post Miss SA has been a new and interesting journey. It is now time to reap the benefits of that exciting and successful year.

It’s amazing how things have unfolded, almost organically. Becoming a Top Billing presenter has always been a dream of mine. I love meeting interesting people, so my highlight is definitely the people I interview. If I had to choose one: Supermodel Iman, because she’s intriguing. So humble, funny, has an elegant aura (and she told me I’m gorgeous!) What’s not to love?!

This year we are jetting off to the beautiful paradise island of Phuket for the Tropika Island of Treasure. The past two years the winners paired with celebrities to win a shared prize of a million. This year – it’s one man for themselves, one contestant will end up a millionaire and a Reality TV star. When they approached me, my first question was: “where do we stay?” I am very competitive but roughing it is not my style. About a strategy… You’ll have to watch for that. I’m not about to give much away… But this Beauty Queen knows a thing or two about competition…So to join me in Thailand to compete for R1mil sms Tatum Keshwar and your name, age and city to 41682 to enter.

Some of the must-haves for this trip include sun Block. Some beautiful bikinis and beach accessories like Sunnies, hats, Kaftans and flip-flops and Tropika. A lady can look good while winning!

Modelling is something I still love doing. If you have it, you just know how to work it. My height and the fact that I enjoy the attention as well as the opportunity to embody a different persona have helped me to strut my stuff and give the perfect pout.

I love all these new opportunities the titles of Miss South Africa and Miss World 2nd Princess have provided me. However, I do love Psychology and particularly Industrial Psychology. I’m balancing my entertainment and media with some corporate and business work. There is something interesting in the pipeline. You’ll have to watch this space, but for now, my lips are sealed.

I recently walked two kilometers in high heels for Women’s day while I was there for Cape Town Fashion Week. It is called The High Walk and is to raise awareness for and in support against Women and Child abuse. It is walked by women and men, dressed as women. Good fun! I had a great pair of heels on, didn’t realize 2km was that far though, but it was for a great cause!

Sky Diving is definitely one of the craziest things I’ve ever done! I was determined to do it because it was a dream of mine. That was until I was standing on the ledge of the plane at 10 000ft, air chasing past me with a chute strapped to my back and thinking “Oh no, what am I doing?! It’s too late to turn back!!” It was, however, one of the best experiences of my life! Truly exhilarating!

The old school classic Lovely Day by Bill Withers is a great way to start to my day, or Dr Feelgood by Travie McCoy is a new song that I love which really get me going when I hear it! My all-time favourite get up and go song though, is Make it Happen by Mariah Carey.

The one question Google cannot answer is what is success? Although there are millions of definitions for success on google, that is one of the many questions that can only be discovered personally from the inside out.

Me In A Minute with presenter Sade Giliberti

Being involved with the second season of So You Think You Can Danceis great. Actually, it’s as cool as the first season. It’s always fantastic being part of such an awesome and popular show

The most stressful part of being a presenter has been changing my image, because what some fans don’t know is that I’m a tomboy.

The behind-the-scenes guys and girls are really fun, plus they know how to work hard when they need to. It’s not only about the contestants who come on the show thinking they can dance – our crew always busts some moves during the audition process.

Survivor: South Africa was an awesome reality show to be a part of. It was a good vehicle to show and remind SA who the real Sade is. The Sade they watched growing up, the down to earth, short-haired, boisterous gal.

It’s been a crazy journey for me, sometimes it’s even hard to believe that I have been in the “limelight” from such a young age. I have been a part of many wonderful projects over the years, but I think my biggest highlight (besides SYTYCD and Survivor) is managing to remain on a daily youth show for 10 years. Being a kid growing up on TV, it’s hard to sometimes have those typical “teen” moments because of the role model job we had to portray to so many kids out there.

If there’s one person I could bitch slap it would be Lady Gaga. Yeah, yeah, I know everyone likes her and she’s a great entertainer, but where will she be in another year? And as for those black heels she keeps wearing. She always takes a tumble. Then again, so do I.

My gap year was the greatest thing I ever did for myself, professionally and personally. However, it has left me with the travel bug. There’s so much of the world I would still like to see and I am itching to travel again.

I enjoy photography and I would like to be way better at it than I already think I am. If I could have another skill, I would like to have the ability to be insanely artistic, like a graphic designer or some kind of artist. I also want to write a book one day.

The last good movie I watched was The Runaways, about Joan Jet, starring Kristen Stewart. I liked that it just told the story. No in-between love story or curve-ball plot. Plus the performances were good from K Stew and Dakota Fanning.

I do all my chores, and I don’t mind doing them. Although I hate ironing. What a mission.

Abdul won't be returning to Idol this year

Twitter is so useful… the real Paula Abdul (verified and all) tweeted yesterday saying she would not be returning to the show. Here’s what she said:

” With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all”

Apparently she was in wage talks with the hit show bosses, but clearly it didn’t go as well as it did for Ryan Seacrest, it seems. He doesn’t seem over the moon by the news either, saying “I have read what u have read and I am shocked and saddened about Paula.” Oh well life goes on, perhaps they could take South African judge Mara Louw on instead…

Top Billing's Dhiveja on The Von Vodcast

Moeketsi Moticoe

Moeketsi Moticoe

Top Billing is one of the most popular shows on South African TV. The show highlights all the luxuries life has to offer, from exclusive celebrity interviews to the most magnificent houses, the show has it all. What would the show be though without it’s presenters, who are the perfect ambassadors for what it stands for. I got to hang out with one of the newer faces recently, Dhiveja Sundrum. What a fantastic interview.

Not only is she beautiful, but she’s fun and super intelligent too. Fast facts: She represented South Africa at the Miss World pageant in 2005. She came 15th overall and 2nd from Africa. Nice one. She is also a qualified doctor… Impressive I say, impressive. Check out the Von Vodcast this week:

Elana Afrika on The Von Vodcast

Elana Afrika is one of the most bubbly people I’ve met in the entertainment industry…. The 5FM DJ is crazy, but in a fun way. She now has yet another project on the go. Her co-host for the new M-Net show, “I Wanna Be” Ed Jordan is just as crazy, full of energy and such a great person. I sat next to him on the way to Livingstone in Zambia, where various members of the media were invited to attend the launch of the new show. I’ve got to tell you I had an incredible time in Zambia. From the moment I got off the plane, the people on the ground were super friendly, willing to help in any way and it’s a beautiful country too!

More on the activities soon, along with a video to accompany the story but for now… find out more about “I Wanna Be” straight from the horse’s mouth, Elana Afrika, who is my guest on the Von Vodcast this week:
