Lil Wayne, Drake hitting SA this December

We knew that Drake was coming and I knew about Lil Wayne, but apparently it wasn’t public knowledge… Up until now. Live presenter Sizwe Dhlomo just announced on the show that Lil Wayne was the other big international artist who will joining Drake this December. Are you excited? Have you got your tickets? I’m excited to see Drake… let’s leave it there ;)

He’ll be performing three concerts in SA. One on the 7th of December in Cape Town. One on the 9th of December at the Coca Cola Dome and then on the 11th of December he’ll be at a venue in Durban. That will be confirmed in due course  Visit this site for more information on the tour: http://www.lilwaynesatour.co.za/

Watch: James Blunt performs in Johannesburg

UK singer/ songwriter James Blunt performed to over 10 000 fans at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg at the weekend. This marked his second tour to the country in three years. Look, I’ll be honest I was a James Blunt fan for about as long as the hit single “You’re Beautiful” was on radio (before being overplayed). So I wasn’t totally excited to see him again, but I respect the fans who do still like him and judging by their response, they were stoked to see him too. Did you go? Who in Cape Town is going to the show tomorrow night? Give me and others reading this your thoughts.

Newsflash: P.O.D tour cancelled

It is with great disappointment that we have had to announce the cancellation of the P.O.D tour of South Africa. Shortly after the announcement of the tour, company We Rock U sent an official letter informing us they had gone bankrupt. Local tour promoters have been working around the clock to try and salvage the event as thousands of tickets have already been sold. Due to time constraints and a lack of sponsor commitment, it is with regret that we have to cancel the shows.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your enthusiastic support.

All tickets will be 100 percent refunded. For details see the note from Micket.

Micket is extremely disappointed to announce the cancellation of the P.O.D and the Slot tour to South Africa in July. After the initial promoter’s company, WEROCKU went bankrupt, local promoters tried their very best to resurrect the show and Micket supported this decision 100%.  Unfortunately time and other resources were not enough to successfully bring the show back to life and P.O.D will no longer be touring to South Africa.

The Micket team wishes to thank all of you who have shown such incredible support since the opening of Micket sales and those of you who have tried to make the show happen, as well as the patience ticket holders showed throughout the process.

Ticket holders will be refunded in FULL by Micket.  We hope to have your support for the next show and we hope to see P.O.D and The Slot in South Africa in the near future”.

Nicki Minaj on her way to SA

One star who gives Lady Gaga a run for her money has to be Nicki Minaj. The star loves fashion, but not the typical type you and I would typically wear. She digs, the outlandishly, wacky and bizarre fashion. Anyway, that’s beside the point of this post. The star has taken to her Twitter account to promote her upcoming world tour called “I am music tour”, of which South Africa is included. She said:

“Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti, Barbados, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Domincan Republic.”

“Yup yup! —> RT @TeamMinajPoland: @NICKIMINAJ What about Poland,Italy,Canada,Spain,Germany,Greece?”

“Does Nigeria work? > RT @Olaozil: @NICKIMINAJ W.Africa??what country precisely?”

“England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Japan, S. Africa, W. Africa, France, Australia , Brazil.”

I think she’s putting her feelers out there. Trying to ascertain whether there is an interest from places like SA. From there official plans will be made. I’ll wait to see if that is the case with an official press release. Stay tuned.
